I have two Westfields - full Cage FIA as above and with rear MSA rollbar. For me much, much easier to get in/out with rollbar. Also there was recent discussion re helmet in caged car on road not only on track. Additionaly worth to notice that this FIA Cage Has no properly protruding on side side bars.
-
I found it actually made it easier as you can grab on the bars and hoist yourself in! Also, getting in/out through the top was something I would often do especially when the half doors were on it.

About the same time, but to my knowledge the derision was only ever from those that were looking at kits for the first time. Anyone who knew about them was not in the slightest bit bothered about letters on a plate, unless they wanted to display something that (to them) looked cool. I actually fought with the DVLA to ensure I got a Q when I registered mine! - Today
-
When you say full cage, do you mean the FIA full cage not their trackday cage? FIA Full cage Trackday cage
-
Get a bigger warehouse and you can add the dated registrations that have note 2 on their V5CW as well for all the people suspicious of q plates
-
How difficult is it to get into a car with a full cage ? I know it's possible to get a caged one without the side rails which probably helps things but I'm not sure I bend well enough to get out of what would be the door opening. I did see someone get in from the top at Gurston. The other thing I was wondering was how far above a standard windscreen the front rail was, I know the rear one is taller for helmet clearance.

Well whatever it is you are or are not doing is working! (natural talent? ) Have you had your car on the dyno since doing the last round of work on the engine and if so what was the differences between previous spec and now ? (throttle bodies?) -
I'm still looking for either a full cage or better rear cage for my narrow SE. I have been offered one but it was made for a car with independent rear suspension and would have required a bit of work to use it.

My first kit was a Q plate, paid £4800 for it, sold it years later for £6000! I'm wondering if it's worth getting a warehouse, buying up all the Q plates and sitting on them until they make MOTing kits so hard they'll be worth a mint 😂😂 In the meantime I quite like this one..... https://www.pistonheads.com/buy/listing/18612193 I know its listed on here too. Fab looking thing. Great spec but I know very little about those EcoBoost engines. Are they any good in a kit car? -

I'm not sure how long you've been around kits @Kingster, probably longer than my 12 years I reckon, but I can clearly remember Q plates being talked of in derogatory ways and attracting lower prices, but that now seems to be on the reverse! Mine is a 14 plate and right now I'd love a Q plate again specifically because of this MOT emissions issue we are now seeing. In fact if I sell the Carrot I will definitely be looking for a Q plate Westfield not a normal plated one. Anything for an easier kit car life! -

Folk just don’t realise that a Q plate never devalues (or stigmatises) a kit car like it would a tin-top. In fact it can only increase it’s desirability as MOTs get stricter and testers will be less likely to fudge the results 👍 -

Good spot and definitely one to check. Mine showed signs of cracking after only a few years, so replaced the R6 with Gates Barricade as soon as I spotted it. -

Where did you get the alloy cap from? I've been looking for one for my Zetec but have yet to find one I like, or that fits tbh. -

Looks nice, enjoy! I think I spotted R6 fuel injection hose - you should plan to change that for R9 or Gates Barricade for better protection from ethanol - meanwhile keep an eye on it for cracking. -

Alloy oil cap which I got powder coated to match the cam cover washers. Local wheels refurbisher did not even charge for it. Just put it in the oven with other bits -

To be honest, I was dead set against a Q plate, but having a chat with my MOT man, decided it was on balance probably a positive. The lift was an idea that I stole from my nephew who had built his own garage and installed one to take his Lotus (Exige/Elise/something or other). I didn’t realise they were ‘reasonably’ priced. Plus the retailer was offering three interest free payments. Winner! -

After reading all of the recent MOT failure posts I bet you are glad it’s on a Q 👍😁 Like the garage lift idea. -

I've never seen a roll cage quite like that before! Has that been wrapped?
