I've been considering one for a while but timing is all wrong right this minute. That should sell at that price, very cheap for a 500!

Absolutely right ^^^^ A rear end damage as your photo could have involved more on your Westie than first seen. The only way to check is to remove bodywork to see. Please DONT until it has passed the insurance assessment. They may send an engineer out. If it looks like it has had partial removal of parts it may give problems down the line. I say this as you mentioned how badly the other vehicle faired! very frustrating and sad. I am sure she will be repaired but don’t rush into it. Andy

Tvr chimaera 500. 112k miles, has good service history with main dealer records for approximately every 5000 miles throughout its life up to 96k miles. Just had a full service including all fluids, filters, full checkover, rear pads, strip and clean brakes, new front tyres and spark plugs. Full mot. The car is registered as cat n, i run a bodyshop and brought it with very light damage on the rear 1/4 and have fully repaired it and painted both sides and the rear end. I have all photos to show this. The paintwork is in excellent condition, as are the wheels. The interior is original and in good condition, shows some wear as to be expected but overall its clean The hood looks to have been replaced recently and is excellent. The chassis was in good condition when i brought it with no protective coatings. Its had the outriggers replaced in the past. I gave it a good clean up and treated it with dinitrol rc 900 and dinitrol black schutz. Under the bonnet is original and does show its age a bit, but its all there working and runs well. The underbonnet heatshielding has just been replaced. Overall all its a clean, tidy and honest car ready to use, it drives really well. A cheap way into a 500 because of the cat marker. £11995. Would take a p/x but only if its at a trade price.

Sorry to hear your news however the Captain is correct in making sure there is no damage to the chassis and carefully check the wishbones, rear upright and wheel as if it hit the wheel so hard to do lots of damage to his tin top it might have some hidden, if there is any damage like that it will give a whole differrent approach. Do your research and get all the prices you estimate and leave a contingency as often when you strip things down a bit extra damage is found. Most insurance companies will accept you doing the work yourself on something like this but to get best value make sure you value your time adequately and remember you are being disadvantaged with no car to use whilst you do the work. There is a guy who is based in Newbury , Andy Westgate, who runs Westgate Composites, who could fix all the fiberglass and is highly regarded but as others have said boat companies do have the skills.

Hi Dave, I appreciate your comments, my rant I feel would be better off staying in the members only domain, or being deleted altogether. It wasn't intended to bash Lancaster but to highlight the frustrations that I was having in trying to deal with them. I wouldn't like to think that my rant might harm relationships between the club and a sponsor so If you or any other admin want to move to a more appropriate area or delete it I'm fine with that. @Nemesis while your rant (tm) is valid and justified, and should be heard. This is the issues specifically related to the Club website and forum. It’s also members only, so the chances of anyone from Lancaster seeing it, are very, very slim, I’m afraid. However, any admin can move it, and the related posts to the Start Line if you like, for maximum exposure… -

I didn't have any problems and they were super cheap considering I put my westfield in a hedge last November 😪 and it was a total worse off. Not much difference in price to what it was before I had the accident -

Damn shame I will no longer be at loton or castle Coombe. Got rear ended on way back from exeter fuel festival. The guy who hit me said he had been admiring the car as we drove along only to not notice lights going red on m5 j30 roundabout. Insurance job so will take ages.

Sorry, Dave, for the late reply. Unfortunately, not, just the one in there, I'm afraid. -
Thanks colonel. As the guy who hit me is going through insurance I am worried costs will get bloated. I can fix it myself if that is allowed. Good point about getting chassis and roll bar mounts checked.
-
I'd be surprised if it could be repaired so well that the repair was undetectable, so if the insurer will pay, then surely a new rear panel is the way to go, but also as has been said, insist on a repairer who has experience of seven style cars, who can (professionally) check the chassis, and then see. If the repairs can be carried out for £4,000. then I cannot imagine the insurers would dream of writing off a 5 year old Westfield as the value of the car would be far far higher than that!
-
I know it’s easy to do and that you’re anxious to get it back on the road, but please slow down, take a deep breath, think logically and do things in order. Get it checked over (the frame specifically) to see if there’s hidden damage (hope not). Once you’ve done that, you can look at alternatives. To my eyes, that bodywork is repairable by a good body shop, and the wheel arch replaceable (put an ad in Parts Wanted) for a lot less than the cost of new.

Just been looking on westfield parts site . If they can actually supply the parts, I recon i need a ns fw wheel arch in black £624, orange rear fw centre £1649, orange fw roll bar covers £268. That assumes they salvage my lights and stone guards. £2500 parts and 3 days labour so I am guessing circa £4000 . Given car is 5 years old do you think they might write it off ?

I'd love to say my arms are that big, as the photo does make me look fairly jacked, but it is mostly the distortion!
