Camp Carrot 🥕 NC500 and to stake claim to the Haggis
Craigieboy replied to Martin Bell - (Bellyboy) East Anglia AO's topic in Places to Visit and Road Trips
Actually if it's not too late in the planning process, I'd suggest you include the Cairngorms in your route up if you can, you won't be disappointed. Probably some of the best roads we have up here, with some lovely long sections and a wee bit different to the West Coast. The drive up to Glenshee and then on to Braemar is amazing and you can get a move on too. If you could fit it in you'd end up at Grantown-on-Spey and then up to Nairn and across to Inverness, missing out the long slog of the A9. Oh man, bring on the Spring and the good weather..! -

Yeah you'll love it, will be busy in June with campers and foreign drivers, mainly Dutch as they just love Scotland. Hopefully your doing the full route and if so my advice is to ignore the official route and do it anticlockwise, leaving all the best bits to last. As said above the East Coast is a bit bland by comparison. I've done it 9 times now, but then it's on my doorstep. Sounds like my Euro trips with so many hotels booked, takes a good eye for Admin! -

You’ll love it. The east coast is a bit meh, but the north and west coasts are spectacular. With that timescale you’ve got time to get onto Skye as well. Enjoy! -
Made it home, part in the dry and then chucked it down for the last third of the trip. What a thrill!! Cheers all...I'm hooked! Speak soon

The Plan! Start June 3rd Nearly 1300 miles. 18 days, 17 overnight stays in order to catch the elusive haggis. Me in my westie and Jon in his Locost seven will undertake the drive from the flat fens in East Anglia and head to the Eastern side of the nc500. We will then head west and back down through the pennines and back home. UPDATE 17 individual hotels or b&bs booked. Must be mad lol -

It looked pretty impressive/scary up there. Fine if you don't have to commute i suppose. Not a single flake do here in Lanarkshire -
I assume this is no longer available and the OP has not replied on here or to a text message that I’ve sent them

I'm sure he could be persuaded!
