Oh Dear 
Well I "think" everything is physically as it should be but I'm not having much luck so far.
Today I have traced all the wires and double checked they are reconnected to the correct input on the Koso and I've checked fuses and done a rudimentary check on the immobiliser.
What does work:
- All lights work as they should and the Koso responds correctly
- Fuel pump works
- Starter motor works
What doesn't work:
- Engine running - turns over but does not fire
- Ignition warning lamp - I would expect this to come on at least until I get some revs up initially, especially as the battery has been disconnected for a while
Given I cant get the engine to fire then I can't really comment on the temp, rev and fuel gauges on the Koso.
So, not great progress 
Next step today is to attempt to trace all wires from where the loom enters the tunnel and check nothing is amiss there - I've had to remove the scuttle to do this but that's the least of my worries.
Oh well...
