nick311256
Hi everyone, first posting (first of many I expect!) here after a few weeks of Westfield ownership and really enjoying myself, 1.8 Zetec all running okay so far with no real problems so have turned my attention to the hood/frame set up. On first looks the hood is in really good nick but will need a new ABS moulding on the leading edge. Turning to the frame mounts, I can't see any! I can see where they have been as there are small slits in the rear tonau at the base of the roll bar, so my question is were these brackets part of the chassis tubing and have been hacked off or are they separate brackets that can be supplied by Westfield? I've seen the drawings in the build manual but they don't really tell you either way. Any thoughts/advise appreciated. Thanks.

Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman
Ok apologies in advance for the vague answer, but... Depending on the age of the car, it's been all the above! The tabs are welded on many chassis through the nineties and in to the early 2000's, later and up till at least a couple of years ago, there are screw threaded bosses either side of the chassis for L shaped brackets to be bolted on to. Then agai, earlier roll bars had the tabs welded onto the bases of the roll bar upright! You used to be able to get an adaptor that consisted of a flat plate with the tab welded on, that went underneath your roll bar upright, which then clamped it in place when bolted up. Otherwise, the factory can supply the L shaped screw on brackets. While you could try riveting them on, personally I'd fit Riv Nuts to the chassis so that they can be properly bolted on, as the hood frame does put a wee bit of leverage on them. They need decently clamping down.
