New Gear Indicator

I was getting fed up of not knowing what gear I was in so picked up a cheap ebay gear indicator and had a bash at making it work.

Firstly my gear lever is up on the bottom of the dash and goes through the bulkhead so I fabricated a small carbon bracket mounted on stainless studding to allow adjustment to hold the two reed switches. The sensor magnet stuck to the gear selector shaft as it is mild steel. I placed a couple of cable ties around to hold it while I experimented with position.

Next was the display, I already head a small hole in the top of the scuttle so threaded the cables through and stuck it down with a bit of black silicone. Connecting up was easy just a switch supply and the connections from the reed switches along with the neutral switch earth to tell the display you are in neutral and display O.

All fitted and fired up and it works, just had to fine tune the magnet position to get 1st gear and all sorted
