Not this time I`m afraid. I`ve been told I`m going to a beer festival on the Sunday now and my wife is driving! I may get to Gurston in the morning for practice though.

Car is still not starting. Is there any sort of immobiliser wiring on the standard Westfield loom?

bl**** hell what they done, deffo no immobiliser on the westy loom John...

It was running when you took it in there wasn't it ??

If so all they have done is removed the alternator fitted a new fabricated bracket and refitted and now it wont fire but turns over is that 100% correct...

Im thinking they have shorted something out when they have removed the alternator maybe caused a flash back in volts to the ecu and took out the ignition driver side, or im not 100% sure if the loom has a fusable link built in cant remember seeing one but they normally taped up inside the harness aint they..

Cant see any other reason, assuming all the basics have been checked..

All fuses ok

all connections to battery master switch ok

coil connections ok and secure

dizzy cap leads and carbon pin intact

rotor arm is turning when cranked

all wiring to sensors and stuff ok ??

they aint left a lead off battery or something stupid like that have they ??

there could be a few things but its got to be something they have messed with they wont own up to shorting a battery lead or anything I bet...

So is it still there then John ???

Jonty, I f I was you I'd get the car picked up and taken to someone who knows what their doing. From what you've said it shouldn't take an hour to establish the fault.

Not sure what you'll do about payment as it sounds to me they will want paying for breaking it. I suppose use the maxim "the first loss is the best loss"

Is this the same company it's been with a couple of times?

if so, while I'm all for not throwing our toys out the pram at the first sign of trouble, and I seem to recall saying similar last time, to give them a fair opportunity, they've more than had that now.

It does seem like it leaves them with more issues than it arrives. Maybe it needs a bit more of a specialist when it comes to engine work, at least.

This is the first time it's been to this company which is fairly local to me. I'm picking the car up fri or sat, taking the car to here http://www.lloydspecialistdevelopments.co.uk which is only 5 miles from where it is now. They reckon they will crack it.

I suppose I'll have the argument when I pick the car up.

Not a stag do I'm afraid although do enjoy the sights of Krakow!

Just to update the thread, they cracked it in approx 3 seconds!! We wheeled the car in last sat and before they did any diagnostic work they put the battery on charge. Started first time the next morning!!! D'oh!!

ECU was not seeing required voltage using battery boost box. That's one month of summer driving down the drain. Picking up Friday.

Going to get them to fit air charge temp guage.

Jonty, by "they" I trust you mean the garage you removed it to. Just shows how poor some so-called garages can be.
