Dear all

The Cotswold area has arranged a 12 car stand for this event at the end of the month. I'm not sure if invites have been extended to the forum in the past but if anyone would like to come we have tickets spare.

The event combines the usual static show with the chance to get yourself out on track in 15 minute sessions. The Castle Combe paddock will be full of various owners clubs fitting the theme of the day along some trade stands and auto jumble.

More info can be found in the Castle Combe circuit website. If you would like a ticket please drop me a PM and I'll get back to you. If you then want a track session you'll need to contact Castle Combe's office or chance it on the day. I think they are c£30 for 15 mins these days so wouldn't recommend doing many!

Thanks

MattB

Some more info from Castle Combe to give you a better idea of the day:

NEWS FROM CASTLE COMBE CIRCUIT CLASSIC & SPORTS CAR ACTION DAY – SATURDAY 30TH JUNE

60, 60, 60

The Porsche Owner’s Club became the 60th Club to be accepted for this year’s Classic & Sports Car Action Day and appropriate that 60 years ago, way back in 1952 the first time a Porsche ever raced in the UK was, appropriately enough, here at Castle Combe Circuit and the Porsche Club will be celebrating this special anniversary here at the Action Day and again in 2 month’s time at our A-Plant Lux Race Meeting on Monday 27th August, when Porsche Club GB bring Porsche racing to the circuit.  And, of course we are all still coming back to earth after the fantastic displays throughout the country for the Queen’s 60th coronation anniversary last week.

So, with 17 days left and just a few limited club spaces still available it’s not too late to apply although you will need to be quick.  Full details can be found by downloading an application form please click here.

So what have we got in store for you if you are visiting?

60 clubs will be packing the paddock area displaying over 700 classic and sports cars representing a huge range of cars including those representing Alfa Romeo, Austin, Lotus, Ford, Fiat, Honda, Hillman Imps, Jaguars, Jensens, Marcos, Mercedes, MG, Minis, Mazda MX5s, Opal, Triumphs, TVR, Vauxhall and Westfield.  Whilst multi franchise clubs also have a huge variety of fabulous cars to look at with many lapping the circuit.

Numerically, the most popular is Club Lotus with a huge display of 60 Sevens and Caterhams.  While the two principal Marcos Clubs bring some 40 examples of the west country built car.  Always popular here and a previous winner of the ‘Car of the Show’ award is the Imp Club with 10 vehicles.  The Honda S800 Club are bringing 13 of the amazing little S800 cars and, previous ‘Club of the Show’ the Austin Cambridge Westminsters are hoping for a display of 15 cars.

Adding into the mix of all these is the Mark 1 Rally Car Register, the fabulous Speedsters and Spyders, our local supporters Torque Talk and some much more.

But there is so much more and, as always, some innovations.

Richard Bishop Motorsport is organising fast lap charity rides with all the money raised going to a fabulous good cause, the Wallace and Gromit’s Grand Appeal, Bristol Children’s Hospital.  Richard will be bringing a nice mix of classic cars and for just £20 their drivers will take you around in a way that you will never forget.  Book in the Castle Combe Racing Club Shop which is situated next to Race Control and just a few yards from the Organisers Office in the Strawford Centre.

Also new will be the Retro Village Area selling a range of merchandise from Retro Clothing to car related travel items.  Their large marquee will be situated at the end of the main central paddock display area.

But, for something completely different and to put a smile on your face have a look out for the Cadbury’s Crème Egg car making possibly its first appearance at British UK circuit.

And, if that is not enough and available via separate entry is Richard Edmond’s Classic Car Auction taking place on the Saturday, with viewing from Thursday 28th June and Automobilia Auction on the Friday.  Full details of the vehicles and all the auction lots can be found on the Richard Edmonds website at www.richardedmondsauctions.com.

So do come along, it’s a great day out and at just £12.00 admission with under 16’s admitted free it’s great value.

If you arrive in a cherished or historic car then please follow the signs and after paying at the gate you will be directed into your own display area among like minded owners.

If you are tempted to go onto the circuit then we have track time available with special sessions for tax-exempt cars, pre-80 sports car, pre-70 cars and modern classics.  Plus this year a slow parade session for tax exempt cars behind a pace car.

So have a look at our website at www.castlecombecircuit.co.uk and click on Action Days for the latest information or telephone the Circuit Office on 01249 782417 to purchase tickets or to book your track space.

We are looking forward to your visit and to making the 2012 Classic & Sports Car Action Day something to enjoy for enthusiasts and family members of all ages.

Admission charges on the day are Adult £12.00 (FREE FOR CLUB MEMBERS THAT CONTACT ME IN ADVANCE)

Accompanied under 16’s free

Track time at £35.00 per session

Hi Matt, I live in Eastbourne but will be showing my car in Devon on Sunday 1st July and I would be interested in visiting Castle Combe on my way down. Are there any tickets still available. My car is a Megabusa and has been round Castle Combe before. The day looks pretty busy. Is your stand full yet?

Thanks to those who came. I left not long after 12 when the rain began to become a little harder and more frequent! Feel sorry for those looking to go on track but couldn't get past the noise test. I was very surprised mine was as high as 100db!

Did anyone find out what shut the track for so long before lunch? An orange mk1 or 2 Escort with a 2L black top Zetec had an engine let go in style so I wondered if it was oil on track. Seemed excessive though!

A few pics below. If anyone wants a higher res version let me know. They were only taken with an iPhone4S though!

Some nice cars, a worrying number driving round filter less though, hope the black Westfield hadn't been driving round like that, it's a very quick way to kill your engine: four big sucky openings sticking through the bonnet just where the front wheel tends to fling all the fine dust grit and gravel.
