Event Organising

Great to see that there are people out their wanting to organise & help run events for the club, so here's my ideas on getting started:

First, think small, getting events off the ground is difficult & promoting them is the key.  Try running a local event such as an afternoon trackday, which should only needs 10-15 paying members to break even.

Put the proposal to your AO or the national commitee, if they think it's a goer then they will underwrite it financially.

This is how Harewood, Elvington & Mallory are all run.  The smaller events are funded locally.

A good idea is to set up a small band of helpers for running events & bouncing ideas off, this also helps promote the event.

Be warned, this is no walk in the park, for some reason nobody wants to book events 3 months in advance, but they will kick up a stink 3 days before the event when you won't let them play cos it's booked up, especially when you've had to invite c a t e r a m drivers to fill the event!

As a point of contact for guidance, feel free to e-mail me or even the club PR sec. (Sorry Steve!;)

Have fun & see you all at the F & G

Paul

And get folks to pay a deposit or better still their entry fee - then at least if it looks like rain - they'll still turn up  ;)  :D  :)  and have more fun in the wet than they ever could have imagined ;)  :D  :)

I agree with Paul start small with a local afternoon circuit thrash or karting cos the likes of Harewood and Mallory take a lot of organising and not for the faint hearted.  ;)  :D  :)

A small volunteer team for an area event is the key  ;)  :D  :)
