Doug Dastardly
So I'm about to start fitting the mesh to my bonnet, bought new tigerseal, thinking it would be one job that would go well....... With a small bit of fettling the larger pieces are fitting well, the problem is the two little side pieces. Basically the shaped part is too big to fit through the cut out. So I'm wondering if I should enlarge the cut out (not too keen on this one) flatten the mesh out and reshape it, or just work away rebending the mesh where nessasary? I'm concerned that any work to the mesh will spoil the paint which would spoil the whole job. Anyone with any experience able to point me in the right direction? Thanks
Mark Finney
When it came to bonding the side pieces in they needed some tweaking on mine, had to cut a small bit off the side of them and then bend them a little trying them every so often until they fit nicely! adamnreeves
When I had the standard Westfield Grill, yes I had to bend and cut if to fit the opening. Now I just use light weight powder coated aluminium mesh.
Doug Dastardly
Thanks for the pointers Guys, I'm about ready to fit them now, bit of tweaking and a bit of patience. I think where I was really going wrong though was trying to fit them with the bonnet upsidedown. When I turned it right way up they looked better, protruding at the bottom but more flush at the top.
