Westfield Project

NEED A QUICK SALE, FIRST OFFER OF 5k TAKES IT!!!

For Sale is my Westfield SEiW (Wide Independent rear suspension) first registered in 1991 on Q plate.

This is an ideal winter project for someone. It has genuinely got 99% of the parts needed to build it. I haven’t had an open cheque book to buy things for the car but wherever possible I have gone to SBD for engine / transmission parts, Westfield for nuts and bolts etc etc etc. The beauty of this project is that there in NO IVA REQUIRED!!!

I purchased the car through the WSCC boardroom off Bananaman who inturn had purchased the car from the Westfield factory a couple of years ago.

The car was originally fitted with a 1600 X-Flow engine and yellow body work which was quite faded. Since then a lot of work has gone into stripping it down but due to my circumstances I am unable to complete the rebuild. I would prefer to sell as an uncompleted project rather than split, however I have not ruled this out!

CHASSIS :

I stripped the chassis back and gave it to SteveD who professionally blasted it, welded all of the rivet holes, dressed them back, added a lowered floor plan (ideal for the taller driver!) and some additional supports. It was then treated and painted with POR15. The chassis has now been re-panelled and sealed using blind rivets supplied by Westfield. There is an aluminium sheet to go under the engine and cover the diff at the back should the new owner wish to have a flat floor throughout.

SUSPENSION:

The car comes with £500 worth of Alloy Bodied / Rose Jointed Avo coilovers all round.

BRAKES :

At the rear of the car the rear uprights have been converted from drum breaks to disks (not a cheap mod!).

DRIVE TRAIN :

The car is an early SEiW so comes with an escort type diff in Westfield’s own housing.

Engine…

The engine is a Vauxhall 1600VX 16v. The engine was purchased by Bananaman through the boardroom and I have since sent it to Perksy who has done a fantastic job servicing and improving it. Fitted to a SBD high flow manifold are twin Webber 40’s that have been fully cleaned, serviced and painted, high performance SBD 4-2-1 low-line exhaust manifold (this is the top of the range manifold capable of well over 200bhp applications!), SBD alloy bellhousing VX to Type 9, standard clutch pressure plate & flywheel. It comes with a DTA engine management system, brand new engine mounts, alternator and starter motor. It is fitted with a RWD sump.

I will post up a full report about what work has been done to it (when I find where I have saved it!!) but it included things like replaced timing kit, ARP rod bolts etc etc. Performance silencer in excellent condition!

Gearbox…

Refurbished type 9 gearbox complete with mounts

There is basically basically everything you need to fit it to a Westfield however I would recommend a new clutch plate and clutch release arm.

The car comes rolling on very nice lightweight 13” minilites with Yokohama A539 185/60R13 tyres.

ELECTRICS :

I have purchased a 12 month old loom off a car that had been written off which was working before it was removed so should make the electrics a doddle! Brand new lights, front and rear, horn etc.

EXTERIOR :

Bodywork…

I have a full set of brand new bodywork from Westfield (Fixed arch tub, Scuttle, Botbox, Cycle wings (these are not new but in good un faded condition) and an FW front end which includes all the light mountings with mouldings, grills for nostrils and nose cone. Also included is a GRP Aero screen. A set of 5&3/4” headlights (Black).

It comes with a Black powder coated roll hoop off Terry Everrals old car, which features side impact bars and is taller than most, again ideal for the taller driver!

INTERIOR :

260mm suede Momo steering wheel on a removable boss (good for security and access), 12 month old full set of Westfield gauges, lights, switches etc with a brand new MickMade carbon dash which is exceptionally good quality and weighs less that air I think!! There are a pair of Westfield padded race seats with all of the mountings, Westfield black harnesses.

I bought this project with all of the best intentions but a baby, 80 hour weeks at work plus loads of personal issues means that I am not realistically going to be able to scratch this itch for a few years now. I will try and help the new owner as much as possible with identifying what I think needs to be done. Comes with a build manual, all receipts + a garage full of bits for it!

This is an ideal project for the winter and will be an excellent car for road or track with a really good engine choice that’s a bit different. Get in touch if you are interested, some detail is available in the started build thread in my sig below.

(no offers, part exing the wife, dog cat, I cant send it to Nigeria or accept any other currency)

NOW £5000 - Many thanks.

Photos now attached, loads more if anyone wants anything specific.
