Cleggy the Spyder Man Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 It's a fair point (in answer to LippyD). Let me put it this way... As of about 1996, Westfield stopped producing anything of worth other than the chassis, bodywork, rear uprights and wishbones. With the exception of the chassis and rear uprights, you can get *everything* for a Westfield from an alternative supplier. The alternative supplier can usually supply the same part, from the same manufacturer, usually at a lower cost. Westfield have since stopped producing bodywork and (I think) chassis in house. So they make nothing. Except for bad choices maybe... on the flip side you could argue that if they had not of done those things they would not be here now - only Julian knows the answer to that one and we must not forget how tough the last few years have been for all of us - I can only assume the business's were brought with the best intentions of taking them further forwards and just maybe although currently shelved they could well make a return when people start spending money again ------------------------------------- anyway what would I do with the car and business: - redesign the seating room within the car - it's nice to feel cosy in this sort of car but the cabin is way to cramped for many as the recent fifth gear highlighted - concentrate on the westfield and maybe one other - too many people making cobras already so for me it would make more sense to re-jigg the Libra (a great looking car IMO) - improve the feeling of safety once in the car - I don't know how but I would really like to see some improved side protection built into the car - drop the standard roll bar and fit sumtin braced as a minimum - Improve the website especially the ecommerce site which is so out of date it hurts - I could have spent a fortune with them over the years online but have spent money elsewhere due to lack of products/info on products and pictures - where are the package deals - see here a website that I have spent a fair bit with http://www.machine7.com/ ok they have a much bigger audience for sure - make sure when you let the motoring press have a car it is handled properly - Finally and most importantly - market the cars properly- this does not mean expensive advertising in magazines - there are plenty of ways you can advertise in high foot fall places cheaply (in fact my car was part factory built and on display at Bristol airport) - high volume shopping centres are incredibly cheap to rent a node within the malls - the drift thing they do at kit car shows is great advertising and very focussed - I assume they cover their costs - great marketing - could they get independent motorbike dealers to show Westfields in their showrooms as the customers are like minded? - Just a few thoughts running through my crazy mind At the end of the day Westfield are still here and many others have fallen by the wayside - yup things could be much better but I would dare say that survival mode is the order of the day at the moment and targeting sales overseas is the way forwards for the forseable Quote

markcoopers Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 I long ago gave up giving WSC ideas for free. I wouldn't of minded if they were debated and refined/changed, but they got a yes...excellent we will do that and then.............[cue tumbel weed]. I give my ideas to others now and they are doing things, watch this space. Quote
Mark Stanton Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 No worries, know exactly how you feel Mark it's a good job we have some other enthusiastic and ambitious companies around that can see the potential no doubt someone will moan when they see what they lost ........... but they can't say opportunity wasn't offered first Quote
