mikehreynolds Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 Ive got this which I am no longer selling, http://boardroom.wscc.co.uk/cgi-bin/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=9;t=85728 and I am interested in starting Sprinting/hillclimbing. Ive never done it before and im wondering if it will be elegible etc. Im thinking about fitting a 2.0 litre XE on throttle bodies to it and im guessing this will put it in a different class? What sorts of cost are involved in terms of entry fees etc? Cheers Mike Quote
RobC Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 Hey Mike. I did my first year this year and enjoyed it a lot... Cost wise you'll be look at each even costing about £100 + or - a little bit Plus fuel, tyres ( of which I only used one set of soft all year) food etc... The paddocks a good mix of people who have load of experience and then newbies who are getting to grips with the whole thing. Frankly it's the best fun I have had in the westy since finishing the build 4 years ago... Quote
RobC Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 If you fit the 2.0l Xe... you'll be in F stick with the zetec and you'll be in E All depends what you want to achieve in your first year...? F this year was the biggest class going... Quote
mikehreynolds Posted November 28, 2010 Author Posted November 28, 2010 What engine do you run and what categories are there? Quote
RobC Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 I running a zetec 2.0l only slightly modified with 200+BHP, but you pick your battles on the day. Some in F are pushing a LOT, lot more, better prepared/dedicated to the job in hand, experience etc... but still... I had a really good year. Quote
RobC Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 Have a look through this... 2010 Regs Will give you an idea of where the land lies... Quote

Paul Morcom Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 Hi Mike, 2.0l XE would put it in Class F, keeping the 1.8l would be in Class E. NB 1800cc is chnage point between classes of each group. Put a standard screen on it and then A to D, subject to which engine you have and tyres). Here are the provisional regs/changes for 2011. Class F is the biggest in the series, so always somebody of your own level to compete against and also quicker cars to work up to. It's a great sport, last year was my second year and I enjoyed it just as much as my first. The WSCC Speed Series if one of the best for levels of competition and camaraderie in the paddock. You won't regret having a go. Paul Quote
V 8 Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 As Paul says, the split is at 1800cc, originally done in order to accomodate the the 1800 zetec engine. The MSA, however put the split generally at 1700cc, (probably, historically to accomodate the older crossflow), so you will almost certainly find your self in with the 2 litre and above guys on the day. Not a problem for you unless you are going for a class win on the day, rather than a class win in the SS. Quote
andyfiggy2002 Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 i dont blame you for not selling, no ones got any money at the mo so you have to give stuff away these days. I've been offered silly money & will wait the 5 years until we have the boom & everyone feels rich enough again to make me a sensible offer Quote
RobC Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 oh and Tommo (V8) will undoubtabley be encouraging you to go faster on the day hey Tommo Quote
Tigger Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 Come & Join the fun Mike, you only live once so give it a go Quote

mikehreynolds Posted November 28, 2010 Author Posted November 28, 2010 Did a trackday in it last friday and the only thing quicker was a caterham R500 and an atom, there were lots of westys there with far more power too!! It made me decide not to sell it as it will be far more fun than a F360! Got some new pads Ferodo 2500 to go in it and an LSD and am thinking about this Also getting it to Northampton to have it corner weighted and the geo done. As its not road legal and on slicks I take it that massively effects the class? Quote
