Tony J Posted June 9, 2002 Share Posted June 9, 2002 The type 9 box attached to my XFlow appears to have no (or a broken) detent. This has proved a problem during fast upshifts from 2nd to 3rd, I keep getting 5th instead. Messed up two runs at Curbrough during an MAC sprint school in April after selecting 5th instead of 3rd coming onto the back straight. I am sure I've read somewhere that the detent spring is often removed for Westfields. Is this true, if so why? A friend suggested fitting a bar across the 5th gate to prevent this when sprinting, but this seems a poor solution really...although may be easier than removing the box to fix/replace it.
