Something around 3 inches(75mm)  is the minimum for road use anything above 4 inches(100mm) is not really necessary, just avoid roads with speed humps like the plague  ;)

BTW: it depends what is the first thing to 'hit' - if it's the chassis/floor then this is not as dangerous as the sump(most likely) or bellhousing flange (as in my case, as the engine is set quite high and I have a shallow sump)   :D

Had my suspension geometry set-up by a guy that sorted cars for the 750MC.

He set my road-going front ride height at something like 3.5” saying this is the lowest but safest. Must also take into account your sump!
