Robertio
My westie is currently running a 2l Pinto from a Mk2 RS200, up until now it has been run on LRP, however, I have been told that it should be OK to run NUL, is this the case? If so, do I have to do anything for the switch over, or can I just put unleaded in the next time I visit the pumps? The car is booked in to be setup on a rolling road next Saturday, so if possible I'd like to get it setup on the correct fuel.
garyo
The older pinto heads don't have hardened seat inserts, so you shouldn't really run them on UL (the seats will gradually receed). The last owner may have fitted a later head though... All pintos built after Jan 89 have hardened exhaust seats and should have the head stamped with a code. A few earlier pintos were built with hardened seats, but the code should be the same. For the 1.6, the codes are M, MM, N, or NN For the 1.8 the codes are S or SS for the 2.0, the codes are P, PP, R, or RR. These codes will be stamped near no.4 spark plug.
