I was going to post the same original question but been beeten to it. Ive got a screen that got peppered on a track day and wont now pass an MOT so was thinking of going down the aero screen route, but this thread has confused me even more (it doesnt take much)  :(  I get a load of bufferting without doors over 40mph and cos I'm blind without glasses, they just bob around my nose making it worse. Have been told on may occasions that the air flow is much better with aero hence the thought (plus cost of replacing screen !).

Whip the screen off, remove the glass from the frame and head off to your nearest winsdcreen/glass shop. They should be able to cut a sheet of laminate to size without too much problem. Or claim on your windscreen insurance ;)

Welded screen surround? You sure? IIRC the bolts to undo it are under the base of the screen, concealed by the fact that it's sitting on the scuttle. *I think* the upper 3 sides are one piece, but the base section can be unscrewed and removed, followed by the glass, but I'll stand to be corrected 'cos I haven't looked at one for ages and I may not remember it properly... :0

Certainly was the case with mine and I had at least 3 screens in there. Another of the reasons I got rid.

FWIW also make sure that someone is at the windscreen place who can actually cut you a laminate screen, not all of the fitters can...

Got to my lock up today and dug out my spare narrow, and spare wide screens. Both are dismantle-able and are not welded in any way...
