1st long journey

Just comleted the first big trip in my new(ish) purchase, bit of a dry run for the forthcoming two week trip to Ireland.

Good news: a lot of fun and luggage racked worked beautifully (thanks to Paul Ash). Luggage was stable up to motorway speeds.

Bad news: Wheel studs were loose and broke on the return journey. Fortunately car is in one piece! Alternator was bodged on and working loose.

Lessons learned: Double check all bolts, etc before you leave! Long journeys can be done in style and comfort, but be prepared to drive a bit slower than normal or take some earplugs for the wind noise.

I've been banging on about wearing earplugs for years. One of the best "driver upgrades" there is ;)
