Martin Keene Posted July 24, 2007 Author Posted July 24, 2007 Sounds obvious, but just go int a sports shop, take a look and try them on Yes, but unfortunately most of these types of shoe are designed as trainers, not driving shoes, and walking round a shop will tell you precious little about what they are like to drive in. If I was buying race boots it would be a lot easier in that respect, find a pair you like off 'net and order. Quote
Blatman Posted July 24, 2007 Posted July 24, 2007 I'm confused. Do you want driving shoes or not? IME, you either buy Kart or Race type shoes, or trainers. FWIW, I have used Reebok Exofit Hi's for years. Even in a narrow tunnel, I don't hit any more than one pedal at a time, and I wear size 11's. But then, I can drive Quote
mr-rad Posted July 24, 2007 Posted July 24, 2007 How about these? Not tried em but wouldnt look out of place in the pub. edited to say not available til september Quote

But then, I can drive Yeah, that last post did confuse the issue slightly... Allow me to explain. I want a shoe for driving on the road, I say shoe because for road work I don't like the restricted ankle movement of a race boot. Sports shops have a proliferation of race boot styles shoes, but obviously these have been designed with fashion in mind, not driving, hence looking for recommendations. So far Puma seem to have a nice range, if a little pricey, horpefully some internet seraching will reduce this. Also I have found some Oakley's, but these are even more expensive. Quote

SwissWesty Posted July 24, 2007 Posted July 24, 2007 I use these shoes: Sparco Speedway Race Boot. Very comfortable, good to walk as well. Quote
Blatman Posted July 25, 2007 Posted July 25, 2007 I say shoe because for road work I don't like the restricted ankle movement of a race boot. I only do up the laces on the "shoe" part of the ankle boots I wear. Get a nice snug fit with no ankle restrictions. Plus, I'm forever scuffing the ankle part of the Exo fits which means if I wasn't wearing them, I'd be bashing me ankle... Quote
