Richgm Posted July 13, 2005 Posted July 13, 2005 Got to say. If you ever in the area and they have one taking off, it's well worth the visit. Looks like the biggest firework you've ever seen but the sound is something you feel as much as hear. Like to go back one year and see a nighttime blastoff bet it'd be cool. Quote
neilwillis Posted July 13, 2005 Posted July 13, 2005 I suppose if they try to get to the moon again they'll have to launch at night Quote
Lurksalot Posted July 13, 2005 Posted July 13, 2005 I guess they'll be drinking R Whites cause they can't get 7-up Ill take that taxi Quote

I thought I saw a piece on the NASA web site (or it may have been on SKY) that they were only going to launch during daylight hours in the future... Quote

Correct it is so then can view every inch with cctv and spotter planes will be recording for play back. I don't think nasa can afford any mistakes this time or the shuttle programme will be dead and burried. Might relauch saturday if not they will have to wait till september. Quote

Barry Ashcroft Posted July 14, 2005 Author Posted July 14, 2005 well I guess that makes five years of perfection needed. Quote
Blatman Posted July 14, 2005 Posted July 14, 2005 They want to move on to the next evolution by 2010, so I guess they've already got something in the pipeline. If you're surfing the NASA wb site, check out the advances made in the SCRAM jet technology. Apparently it's working, and breaking records. We may be but a few years away from being able to launch and land an orbiter like an aeroplane. That would be a *huge* leap forwards... Quote

Nope, its to improve the aerodynamics. The standard Headlamps create too much wind resistance. Either that, or the Yanks are just planning ahead to when their total ignorance of anything to do with pollution finally wipes out darkness and we all fry. Quote
