Crash Override Posted August 16, 2004 Posted August 16, 2004 Hi all, the Colour A4 version of WW seems to be here till the end of the year according to Peter (Editor), which is great news. He has also said this will be reviewed for next year and if we want them to continue doing the larger format then we should make our feelings known, so here is the poll. Quote
Jan Coombes Posted August 16, 2004 Posted August 16, 2004 I like the A4, but It gets wrecked in the post. Talking of which Is any one missing pages 8-14? as I have 3 saet of them. Like wise some one must have extra of 15-16-17-18 as I don't have them. Quote
neilwillis Posted August 16, 2004 Posted August 16, 2004 The all colour A4 mag is excellent IMHO. Not many car clubs can boast such a professional looking magazine. I hope it stays, even if it does get a little bent in the letter box. As a matter of curiosity, do any of you have postal subscriptions to other magazines? If so, how do they fare? Quote
Nick.Petty Posted August 16, 2004 Posted August 16, 2004 It is brill agreed, except that lots of pages of mine were stuck together when I received it I know it was a good issue, but surely not THAT good Nicko Quote
perksy Posted August 16, 2004 Posted August 16, 2004 Used to be a member of the tvr owners club and the magazine was A4 format and a very good read It also had probably twice as many pages as our mag' (not criticising our mag' ) It also had a fare bit of advertising in it aswell... But the membership fee was around £10 or £12 more per year. I like the A4 format of our mag' it looks very professional Quote
Mark Stanton Posted August 16, 2004 Posted August 16, 2004 I too think the A4 magazine format is excellent - However bear in mind the review will be with regard to many other subjective issues and simply not just "is it liked" Please note surveys on this open public boardroom are not used for any decisions made by the committee team - sorry thats the way it is, less than half the membership are registered here P.S. Perksy - not forgetting that the TVR club is much bigger than the WSCC and has pucker paid employees Quote
neilwillis Posted August 16, 2004 Posted August 16, 2004 And you won't be able to read the TVR mag when they start printing it in Russian! Quote
Peter Cox Posted August 16, 2004 Posted August 16, 2004 A4...and I haven't even seen the latest issue yet Quote
Monkeylegend Posted August 16, 2004 Posted August 16, 2004 Used to be a member of the tvr owners club and the magazine was A4 format and a very good read It also had probably twice as many pages as our mag' (not criticising our mag' ) It also had a fare bit of advertising in it aswell... But the membership fee was around £10 or £12 more per year. I like the A4 format of our mag' it looks very professional I belong to the TVR Car Club.Membership is £35 per annum. The Sprint magazine is A4 coloured. has 70 pages and comes out monthly.I think it is probably the most proffesional club mag around and has a good editorial balance of Club news, feature articles.regional round-ups, ads etc. Westfield World in A4 format is a big improvement and is a credit to the club. Blatman Posted August 16, 2004 Posted August 16, 2004 I have a strong suspicion that the A4 all colour mag may be a bit more expensive to produce than an A5 part colour one (having been around "the press" for a while, I can make these sweeping statements....). Dare I suggest that part of the future discussions that the Committee may be having centre around whether subs, along with advertising fees, should be increased to fund the new format. It's a good poll and I'm strongly in favour of the new A4 format, but surely there should be the "who's gonna pay for it" caveat, 'cos nothing in this life is for free... So, *my* question is, can we *afford* to keep the A4 mag. If it means my subs go up by a fiver or even a tenner to pay for the better mag, I'm in favour despite the fact that I haven't seen the latest offering yet Quote
Crash Override Posted August 16, 2004 Author Posted August 16, 2004 If it means my subs go up by a fiver or even a tenner to pay for the better mag, I'm in favour. I'd second that in order to keep it. Quote
McSpreader Posted August 16, 2004 Posted August 16, 2004 Yep - have only just flicked through it - but looks really good. IMHO even if you just consider the membership fee as subscription it is WELL worth it. How about a regular section (to make use of the colour and space) and have a photo competition - say, 4 entries per issue, and then a prize (just the accolade) at the end of the year etc. Awards for funniest, most thrilling, etc... I presume most take cameras to events, but on such as track days always come away wth loads of pictures of other peoples cars... Simon Quote
Major Stare Posted August 16, 2004 Posted August 16, 2004 A4 gets my vote Plus its easier to store if the WSCC bring out a binder to store issues?!?!?!?! Quote
