Blatman
If it were a pre-95 engine, could it be on a 'T' plate though? Yes. The engine could have been the 1 part that was reconditioned to as new condition, allowing for a current/new reg. A pre 95 engine reconditioned to as new would NOT require a CAT for SVA or at MOT time. Besides which, if the V5 says "amateur built from parts" it's a visible smoke test, regardless of what engine is in there. If it's a factory built car though, it almost certainly will need to comply with emmisions regs for a T reg car........

My factory car has 'Kit car, built from parts' on the V5 (I think that's the wording). However, that was pre-SVA, so may be different now. adhawkins
Oi, watch it I must word things more carefully. What I meant was: "My car was built at the factory in 1997, and has the words 'Kit car, built from parts' on the V5. However, my car was built pre-SVA, so cars built at the factory since SVA came in may well have different text on their V5" Is that clearer?
