RICHARD+PHILIP Posted March 23, 2004 Posted March 23, 2004 If you get a hire car travel up to Jameos del agua if you folow the road from there round the coast you end up at Mirador del rio which a nice vertical cliff down onto salt pans and a good view of isla graciosa carry on along this road (lots of hairpin bends) to a castle Castillio de guanapay which is worth a visit. Well that's one day done day 2 head for the Volcano (it's expensive to get to the top but you can drive round the outside. SOme amazing views of lava fields) Theres a good Muesum around there which is free explaining about the mountain (worth a visit) can't remember what it's called but there is an area of cliffs near the sea which funnel waves into blow holes (it's in all the guide books) Finally if you get a good sunset visit papaguayo beach. No I havn't heard of the hotel Quote
Blatman Posted March 23, 2004 Posted March 23, 2004 Oooohhhhh........forgot about the volcano. Mt Timanfaya, IIRC. Take the bus trip round the mountain. It's pretty good. Go to the restraunt that they've built on the top, and you can buy hot food that has been cooked over the lava. Basically, they have a big hole in the ground which leads directly to an obvious hot spot in the earths crust, over which they have a big (like about 9 feet) barbecue grill. Very cool........ Quote
chrisbin Posted March 23, 2004 Author Posted March 23, 2004 Very cool........ or hot......presumably........ Well thanks for all those suggestions guys........but....guess what.................SWMBO has decided that Lanzagrotty is not her idea of a desirable destination.... So its back to the drawing board I think........ And I didn't even show her Blatman's comments......... All I want is a nice, child friendly, hotel complex, where we can get an apartment/villa with 2 bedrooms (why does everyone accept one room and sleep with their kids when on holiday???), next to a beach, with a budget of about £3.5k for 2 adults & 2 children in July............any offers??
