Fuel filler neck restricter.

Hi all.

I've just been scanning through my car builder solutions catalogue and came across this...

I'm fine with the cap tether but I don't have a restrictor in the filler neck to prevent misfuelling. I've had a look in the IVA manual and I can't find anything related to this.

Anyone have any experience with this?

Thanks.

Gary.

I had my Iva about a week ago and this wasn’t mentioned or checked

It's been built into so many fuel cap assemblies for so long, I think it just doesn't get mentioned any more, that's all.

But I suppose cheap alternative, foreign supplied caps and necks might be a problem, possibly?

And CBS have been saying that for a few years now if I'm not mistaken. Not everything mentioned away from the genuine IVA manual is to be believed, always check.

Thanks Gents. The filler cap I have is one from a Mk2 escort with the associated filler tube. The surround which is screwed to the tub was handmade by a good friend of mine in the engineering business as a gift so I really need to use it. He done a lovely job grafting the new and old together but it is from a pre-unleaded era so, I thought I'd ask the question. It's not something I had heard of before until I was browsing earlier.

Thanks again.

In that case you will need to make sure you are compliant.

There’s no mention of restrictors in the current IVA manual.  Seems somewhat redundant given leaded fuel hasn’t been available for quite a while now.

“16. The fuel filler cap must either be tethered to the vehicle or be of a lockable type where the key can only be removed when the cap is locked or an automatically opening and closing, non-removable fuel filler cap
(Post 05 / 2009 vehicles only).”
