Track Day Tyre Wear

Thanks for the feedback, sounds like I may save up for some wheels and track biased tyres and run to and from the track on them.   But first need to work out where to store them.

Why? That sounds like a massive ballache for zero gain…

I’ve ended up with 3 sets of tyres on wheels.    . R1R’s on some TD1.2’s i bought to replace some T1R’s the car came with.    Night n day apart and I really rate these tyres, But I after a silverstone track day the soft  compound and large blocks of tread wore alarmingly fast… and hence I bought the R888r’s on a set of Spax racing yellow pug speed lines. Although almost slicks now and not road legal at all now when they get some heat in them they grip so well.

This year having read positive stuff about uni royal rain sports I put a set on a blue set of speed lines.     They are perfect for the road ..  work in the wet..  and since there is more gap between the treads than most the 195’s  probably have as much rubber contact as most 165’s and therefore great for the weight of a Westfield.

The nearside tyre for a clockwise circuit will always have more wear.  It looks perfectly normal for whichever tyre you choose. Even slicks on my single seater wear more on the near side at Llandow, Curborough, Pembrey, etc.
