This Mustang is running full Merc AMG subframes, suspension, engine, gearbox all the Merc electrics and this is running on Historic status and has been confirmed by DVLA it's ok to run with no MOT due to this paragraph in the exemptions:

  • axles and running gear have been changed to improve efficiency, safety or environmental performance

Takes the p*** really,as if that's not a substantially changed car I don't know what is!🙄😂

Yeah, from what I read on various classic car forums, whether you qualify or not appears to be down to who ever deals with your application, one guy did not qualify whilst his mate with the same mods did, I agree takes the pee .

The engine swap would put that in MoT territory now though.

As far as I know it’s been there since the regulations were first introduced.  If I have time at some point I’ll dig out the actual legislation and the Statutory Instrument rather than just the summary guidance on the website.

I did find all this myself months ago, but never kept the links, and I forget where I found them all.

It’s in the 2017 amendment to the Motor Vehicles (Tests) Regulations 1981

I need to read the 'type' in that last sentence, and see what type actually means... In relation to a Westy. I have found where you got that from , thanks.
