Jeneva 2
Hi everyone.  This is going to be a frustrating post for anyone who can help me, so please keep you patience with me 🙂  I have as the title says a Ford English live axle which I believe is off an Escort.  It has a quaife LSD in and also has floating half shafts  I am looking for a brake kit Disc, calliper and pads recommendations.  I like the Burton power one but unsure if it will fit. If it's part number BKESC12 - yes , but the halfshaft flanges need modifying to suit

Is there a kit somewhere that you don't need to modify? I found a kit on ebay but not sure about it.
OldStager 442
No idea, I've never needed to do it, I guess there are advantages to be had if you track the car but for road use drums are fine on our light cars. If the flange needs to be machined then there must be a good reason, the likes of Burtons are normally spot on with kits they sell. The only thing I can think of is the bracket that holds the caliper to where your drum backplate went, but not sure as I say, never had one. This should be in Tech Talk BTW, but welcome. For some reason I couldn't put into tech talk. I did try, but I am also not very tech savvy. Â I will call Burtons in the morning.

John 602
Its not a difficult mod. You just need to pull the shafts and skim the outer diameter of the flange by a small amount in a lathe so they flanges fit inside the bell of the disk 2

If you get the kit, I would be grateful for a post on how the installation went, for me the only reason I would fit one is to get rid of the rubbish handbrake mechanism, I find the drum brakes very good and can lock on loose surfaces, but the handbrake is really bad.
Phil Nelson - Norfolk AO 62
How strange, I have an SEIW with 9" rear drums and the handbrake is excellent.

I think my issue is the ratchet on the lever mech, it's missing a tooth which if pulled hard enough locks on to the next tooth and although it passes an MOT I don't class it has as good as other drum braked cars I have driven. A swap of lever may well cure it, but getting under the car is getting harder for me as the years go by...😄
Phil Nelson - Norfolk AO 62
I know how you feel Old Stager. The arthritis in my thumbs after a day in the garage and the pain in my back and hips is hard to deal with. Some of the reasons I gave up two-wheels and bought the Westie in the first place. I will keep going as long as I can, but I must admit another major build is probably now out of the question.
