Mike424u 65
Has anyone looked into fitting a oil cooler on a sport 250 No real room in front of the inter cooler, so it looks like it would need to go behind the main radiator or just in front of the engine with some support brackets. Unless its a very small cooler which might just go in front of the inter cooler, but piping it up might be pain that far forward and very tight in the air scoop. Easy enough to connect one up to the current oil filter area. some even have an option of thermostat control. Some thing like this maybe. AdamR 2,403
What oil temperatures are you seeing to mean you need one?

Mole 331
Not sure about your specific installation but I would consider all options before deciding, that's once you know you definitely need one.. However I did quite a bit of testing with my installation and having the cooler behind the radiator in general airflow was useless.. would only have been beneficial if it had its own ducted supply of fresh air.. some of the coolers can be bought with a moulded duct to take hose.. I do like the laminova installation but you must have that extra capacity in your radiator to reject the extra heat load...
Smudge62 25
This was my attempt at getting some air flow to the cooler.

Nice bit of duct work, that could work, but I would have to relocate my battery and space is tight on a sport 250 I did here someone had fitted one sport 250 with fan due to having to locate it behind the radiator
Adge Cutler- Dorset AO 1,582
Mike, build diary below covers a 250 oil cooler/fan installation (from P28 onwards). @Exitus may be kind enough to answer any queries.
DMc 123
Hi mate. What temps are you seeing, water and oil. i have a tuned 2.0 ecoboost and I don’t see any unusual temps even on track. I can’t remember the exact numbers but on track circa 110 water and 125 oil max. that’s in 20 degrees ambient. these engines are designed to run hot, particularly compared to Zetec/red tops etc make sure your Coolant system is as efficient as possible, as the ecoboost has a water-oil heat exchanger. Coolant efficiency is key! A few that help- proper radiator ducting, lower temp stat from a Duratec 82* opening High flow nose grille. finned sump. re locate the battery and Coolant tank to the scuttle to improve air flow. 35/65% coolant-water (or go waterless) flared side panels help a wee bit too. to fit a an efficient oil cooler will take some clever thinking. perhaps mounting it high up and ducting the nose cone? ive seen that done with intercoolers. I think SBD did it with their ecoboost.

Exitus 247 Posted Tuesday at 16:23 Share Posted Tuesday at 16:23 Hi Mike, Not been on here in a little while, but have just seen the thread. We have an oil cooler fitted, which seems to work nicely. More than happy to talk the whole thing through.

Rush Motorsport 2,765 Posted Tuesday at 21:26 Share Posted Tuesday at 21:26 Have you considered a modal laminova? You can pretty much fit them anywhere.
AdamR 2,403 Posted yesterday at 07:44 Share Posted yesterday at 07:44 Have you logged oil temperature to confirm it needs a cooler?

Good point!@AdamR, though have you seen or heard of a Sport 250 owner that's not got thermal concerns 😉 given the extent of issues around thermostats, intercooler/rad core matching etc.
