My first MB shocks were some early Manitou's with a combination of spring and elastomers.

I still have my 1994 Marin Pine Mountain - it’s in bits as the BB is seized in. Been like that for maybe 20 years 🙄

Can't harm to consider that a long, soft, progressive bump stop does the same job as a progressive spring for 1/10th the cost.... It's been tested on track, and down that horrible road to Southport,

What are your ride heights set to (chassis rail to floor NOT dropped floor to floor), with you both sat in?   Most run circa 165mm rear and 140mm front, but you can go higher to improve grou

Can you fit the octavia bump stops without dismantling things? I don’t want to mess up my blink geometry etc.

Yep. No need to reset geo.

@Ben(EBD-ENG) - new hub time sadly, can't get cups separately.

Doh. They appear to be just pressed steel. Maybe time to fire up the lathe

I don't want to spend too much on the bike. Its an old bike and I'm not entirely sure if I have time to even ride it

Yeah hardened and ground though. You can perhaps convert to a sealed cartridge bearing...

Is there much to that. Other than a set of bearings

My old Marin Mount Vision over the last few years has only been used at Silverstone Classic as a easier than walking transport hack!

It is also a bit too knackered for proper rides out these days!

In fact . . . . . .

So am I ! :(
