Bonnet Shut Lines

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

How important are the shut lines for the IVA?

Ive been playing with the fit of my bonnet for quite a few hours now but cannot improve the fit. It’s mostly the front left hand side between the nose cone and the bonnet, the bonnet protrudes from the side around 2-3mm.

The gap between the back of the nose cone and the front of the bonnet is fairly even but still the gap is around 4-5mm. I’m not to worried about this as I can add some foam to fill in the gap.

I have also measured the length of the bonnet each side of which there seems to be about a 10mm difference. I take it this is normal as well.

Just need a general consensus really, should I be worried or not for the IVA?

The bonnet spends most of the IVA on the floor!

This is mine working it’s way down the line.

getting it looking like a well built machine is half the battle for IVA but you can only do so much with the bodywork. Mine has a step of about 5mm on one side where the bonnet seems slightly wider than the scuttle. You have to be pretty picky to notice it though.

Well if that’s the case I’m not going to spend anymore time on it.

Like you say the bonnet is definitely wider than the nose cone so not a lot can be done.

The grommet is for the locating pin fixed to the bonnet. Available from the factory, easy fit.

Yes I fitted my bonnet pins a few days ago I just couldn’t get the shut lines any better.

Clamp the bonnet and nosecone together, then drill the holes for the locating pins.
