Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) - Club Chairman
As this is a topic that's come up a few times recently, and is a safety critical area, with some frankly worrying suggestions appearing, I contacted Hi Spec themselves, who manufacture the aluminium front hubs that Westfield uses for their "official" answer. So, for all those with Westfield (or Hi Spec directly) supplied aluminium front hubs, the four brake disc bolts should be torqued to 50 NM, preferably with threadlock, though as the bolts should be fitted with the special locktab plates, it's not strictly critical. This is the same for non-vented and vented discs.
LoneWolf
What bolts should be used here in terms of grade? Are 8.8 fine or best to go with 12.9?
SteveB21
The bolts on mine, supplied new from Westfield / Hi Spec are 8.8.
