Once you've achieved it, I suggest you replace the nut and bolt used and then you should be able to tighten to a more normal torque value. TableLeg Posted January 17, 2020 Share Posted January 17, 2020 Ensure you're using the right sized bolt too. It should be a bolt as opposed to a setscrew so the bolt body sits in the column groove. Originally I think there were 5/16" but 8mm is very slightly bigger. As Ian says though it's not uncommon to have to tighten more than the specified torque to get a nice firm grip.
