Electric mirror info

Martin Rice (Sparkymart) - Cornwall AO

I've managed to get a set of MGF electric mirrors and a switch for them(land rover discovery) nice and cheap for a winter upgrade. Has anyone got any info on the upgrade regarding the wiring circuit and fitting? I've looked on the search but can't seem to find any info

Thanks in advance Martin

Martin have a look on Kugawestie’s build blog. He fitted them to his original car. There is a comprehensive explanation.

Certainly - I'll dig it out later and post it up.

Here it is. Bear in mind it's from a German source so passenger/driver are reversed. The terminals on the switch are labelled so its easy to figure out.

Ah thanks, that's the one I've already got (hoped that you might have a different one just to get as much info as possible.

I think I'm understanding it but for the bit that I've highlighted in red. I'm getting the ignition live (fused) and running it to Switch Motor (S156) but I'm not clear on what Header 0288 (K109) is? They look lime they're just for the mirror heading element which I'm not using so, I'm assuming that I'll connect straight to the switch via ignition live (fused)?

Yep, the header is just a 1 in 3 out junction to split the switched 12V. Ignore the heater wiring if you aren't using them. I was surprised to see they run all the time TBH. Expected them to be switched along with the rear screen demist.

I find this odd too and strangely, I believe it's quite common as far as I know. I'm sure my old TT was the same 🤔

Thanks for confirming re header 👍
