Simon Marks - North Oxfordshire AO
A friend of mine has an old MG Midget that sounds to have potential as a good donor car for a Westfield XI. 1974 Round Wheel Arch MG Midget A replacement log book is being requested from the DVLA (the original has been misplaced) to allow for an age related registration for the finished Westfield. Steel wheel car. 1275cc engine, +060" overbore, twin 1½" SU carburettors and road cam. Hasn’t run for quite a while. Four speed gearbox and standard propshaft. He thinks it is a 4.2 diff but it does have a Limited Slip Differential fitted. Steering rack and mountings are all there, as are the instruments. The handbrake lever is there but has been converted to fly-off action. The car has interesting history: It was the last production Midget to do an International Rally before homologation ran out– the South Swedish in 1981. It didn’t make it to the end as the fuel pump packed up on the second day. It wasn’t easy finding a replacement one in Sweden! The bodywork is totally gone in the sills, rather a barn find state! The car is in West Berkshire. Please contact my friend direct to discuss: Peter Cox (07713) 608302 peter@the-coxes.com
