Great that they accepted it! Weird, given it's as effective at reducing emissions as a cat in a plastic bag in the footwell, but great anyway.

A perfect example of obeying the letter of a badly constructed law/regulation etc, whilst sticking the middle digit up at the principle.

Following this with much interest.

stickymint, great solution, simpler and quicker than my route around this problem; I had planned to cut out the inners of a regular catalytic converter and use them in place of the first 3” of packing within my silencer, hole through the middle so no impact on performance; yes my silencer has a cat and here is a photo of it.

So what equipment do the MSA officials have to test for the presence of a cat?

Mike west had an endoscope, and he lent it to the scrutees, but they were asking to take cans out if you wanted to proove it...

So they don’t have any kit!

If the scrutes aren’t provided with msa equipment to test for the presence of one then they can not enforce a rule.

A similar issue has happened in the past with fuel sampling. No msa kit provided to scrutineers for fuel sampling so no fuel samples could be taken.

Passed with flying colours!

I specifically asked Mr Mansley to scrutineer the car and all was fine, the fact is i have a CAT fitted means that i am complying with the regulations, i will leave it with you to ti ascertain how effective it is.
