IVA Fail Southampton

Sounds like you've done a thorough job on the points from your forst IVA. Best of luck for tomorrow, don't forget the biscuits for the examiners!

Insurance wise, as others I've been pleased with APlan. They give a WSCC discount, and know our cars, which helps IMHO.

The car passed IVA this afternoon so I'm pleased that's over and done with, Definitely more fun and less hassle than I expected
It rained pretty much from when I left home until I got back home so the car Is filthy and In need of some TLC.

Insurance has been sorted with APlan

Nearly there and onto the registration paperwork minefield I go!!

Thanks everyone for the comments above.

Thanks all.. I'm looking forward to getting the car out and hopefully getting to know/meet some people from the forum.

Am i correct that the following is what I need to complete and send off to the DVLA

V55 Form
V627 Form
IVA Certificate
Insurance cover note
Photocopy of driving licence
Receipts for major components on V627 Form
Cheque for tax and registration?

Do you send originals or copies of receipts ect
Do i send 2 cheques or combine them into 1?
And does anyone have "The best" address to send the paperwork too?

Thanks again

Hi Gary,

Congratulations on the pass, car looks great by the way.

I posted my application on the 23rd November and had everything posted back to me by the 01st December which is the date the car was registered.

The applications depends if you are declaring the car as new, therefore wanting a '19' plate, or an age related plate for an SDV build.

I can only share my experience which I hope helps.

My build was an single doner vehicle ( Sierra ) but I used the engine from a Mondeo ( 2.0 silvertop zetec ), I had a V5 in my name for the sierra.

Calling the DVLA on the main number I was given incorrect information a couple of times, so I did a little more research.

The DVLA have a department called 'Kits & Rebuilds' and I addressed everything to them and sent recorded delivery.

They have a direct line which is not listed anywhere, I found it in a robin hood build forum.

01782 786053

email KAR@dvla.gov.uk

I called them and spoke to a really helpful lady who went through every single question with me on the V355/5 and detailed exactly what I needed to send to the address below.

Kits & Rebuilds

DVLA

Swansea

SA99 1ZZ

the whole application consisted of :

  • covering letter - explaining I wanted an age related plate and thanking the helpful lady .....
  • enclosure sheet - listing everything in the envelope
  • Cheque for payment - one cheque is fine
  • Form V355/5
  • Iva certificate - original
  • Certificate of insurance - listing chassis number
  • Copy drivivng licence
  • Copy utility bill
  • original V5 for Sierrra
  • original invoice from Westfield for chassis starter kit
  • Copy of V5 from Mondeo - proof of engine used
  • Copy of receipt for Mondeo
  • 5 sheets of photos of the build in various states of completion - 4 photos per sheet.
  •  pre-paid self addressed recorded delivery envelope - for them to return originals.

I worked on the theory that I would make it as easy as possible for the person processing the request and give them no reason to query anything, as I said it worked fine.

So good luck Gary,  I hope this helps !

@GaryR1983 You won't get your IVA cert. back, so make a copy(s) before you send it off if you think you want one for your records!

And we're legal.  no trouble with the paperwork and turned around in 12 days. Bought a temp rear plate for now to make the most of my day off and just back from a 20 mile blast round the South Downs.

Not sure what to do with myself now. I suppose I could go for another drive!!
