Cam cover polishing

Has anyone home-polished their silvertop cam cover. I have the drill-attached mops and soap that I've used previously for small jobs - but a cam cover, how long is that going to take? Don't know that I can be arsed, given my garage is like an icebox at the moment!

Probably better to get it vapour blasted at a place while you stay in and keep warm, then you can wet and dry and polish on the kitchen table and risk death by stare from the Missus :d

You need a large tub of elbow grease and a big cup of i'm-not-going-to-stop once you start

No, seriously don't start unless you think you can finish it, or you will be stuck :westy:

@Thrustyjust Hell, I get the death stare for things I don't know I've done, let alone things I am knowingly doing!

I think I'll wrinkle-paint it when the garage warms up.

It will take ages but the prep is the most important thing. When you have sanded all the rocker cover down with 2000 grit paper then you can start polishing.

This took me 1 hour but needs more time on it and the sides doing

Love the 4A-GE!

I polished engine parts once, a 1G twin turbo supra, did cam covers, intake manifold, charge pipes the lot. Took AGES. the problem for me Is that you have to keep on top of it to keep it looking good. and I vowed never to do it again.

It broke my heart when I sold it and new  owner let it degrade into a white fluff.
