Stuff to watch over the winter.

An episode about the length of the celebrity bug rubbish long. Need sounds. You'll know why. Sad to see such immaculate cars being modified and I do question some of the pace notes as accidents seem pretty similar on the same corners with lines etc. Bit like Quarry at Castle Coombe

Has anyone been watching the two Royal Navy documentaries on TV at the moment? One following the new carrier, HMS Queen Elizabeth on a Sunday night, and the other about HMS Duncan, which was on last night. (I forget which channels they're on)

Both very interesting, and worth a watch.

Watched a couple on Duncan recently. Can't think why the Ruskies were upset with them popping into Crimean waters almost.  Interesting and better than celebrity maggot munch thing.

I sort of wondered why the Russian warship was shadowing Duncan.. if they were after info, all they had to do was watch the telly.

It got a bit dodgy at one point with all those Russian jets whizzing around! :suspect:

There was no real threat , even if the officers said it was the most known 'enemy' for over 20 years. Its no different to us shadowing their old cranky aircraft carrier recently going down the English channel. I think that was mainly to make sure it didnt break down though

Everyone seen jet-boat sprinting before?

The jet-boat was a New Zealand invention back in the 50's, originally used by pleasure boaters and hunters to navigate up shallow NZ rivers - once on the plane, they'll traverse water as shallow as 6" through braided sections of river. Nowadays the technology is used from jet-skis to fast-ferries. It didn't take very long for the Kiwi's to start racing them, later joined by Yanks, Canadians, Aussies and Mexicans, who all have similar rivers and the same V8 petrol-head ethos. There's still the pleasure side of it, with regional clubs that do runs up rivers like we do a Westie run-out.

There's two sorts of racing...

Marathons, which are like long rally stages, with the fastest boats nowadays running jet engines to power the water pumps.

Jet-Sprints, which are on a tight closed course like a autotest/gymkhana. These boats are super-quick, with 1000+hp V8's in 13ft boats. See below..

Yes, see that on 'World of Sport's in the Dickie Davis days,.  Boats turned corners as quick as a Westfield which is amazing for a water Bourne vessel.

Just watched this. Why would anyone leave an F40 to sit in a damp garage for 8 years :o Still, get passed the dramatic music and the potential cost for buying and restoring the car and enjoy. Also seen , some more Spax stickers. Getting common these @DamperMan
