Hi

just curious what to replace my ever reliable 02 bmw 3.0 e46 coupe sport with next year, might even keep it to see what mileage and age I can get it to before it’s no longer sensible to keep (many years I imagine)

ive had nearly 40 cars, I’m 32yr old, this bmw has stayed with my through others because it’s been great, the others have been bargains, projects or cars that I’ve alwYs fancied for short periods of time (e.g various golf gtis, Impreza prodrive classic, 130i m sport, Opel manta GTE coupe, Audi A3 2.0tfsi sline, fiesta st, focus st - 3 off including a mountune version)

what do you run?

it would have to be petrol, above 200bhp unless small & light like new fiesta St etc, I quite fancy golf R, gti, m135i etc for top end of budget, mid range budget I like earlier golf gtis, older 135i, fiesta st (economy, fun and simplicity), I do about 40mile per day 5 days a week average so nothing below with average capability below 30mpg .... still love to see your dailys all the same :)

old faithful & yes she’s a manual with under 100k miles washed very week and oil change nearly twice per year

This is my daily :)  And believe it or not, even with a supercharged V8, on a steady run I can easily get above your 30mpg criteria.  I love it.  It’s a running joke between all my car friends how I change cars so often, but I’ve had this a year and no plans to change it.  Can only see me doing so when an SVR comes into budget :)  They sound great, go very well, look nice roof up or down, nice inside, dealer support is good, some good specialists out there to keep costs down.

My daily clocks up a lot of local mileage so needs to be both small and economical.  1.2 litres and 84bhp is plenty for my needs.

But i do also have these for the weekends though in addition to the Westfield.

All 3 cylinders of 60 horses. Its a brilliant car. Dont use a daily as cycle everyday, but buzzing about in it fun. Oh, damn, need to pay the road VED at the end of the month............. £20............ compensates for the Westfields cost. 20161126_102439.thumb.jpg.9107d298c26bdf018e73298fb2a91085.jpg

An eleven year old Honda CRV. As I'm now retired it's not exactly a daily.. it does a weekly shop and tows to trackdays. It's a cracking tow car, comfortable, and economical.. it does all I need. :t-up:

I've got an M135i, which I've had for 5 years now. I weekly commute, so it doesn't get driven much during the week, but gets a fair run out at the weekend. My average is 32mpg, though on a decent motorway run I can get 37mpg out of it.

It's also great fun and seriously fast, though only in summer - in winter it just doesn't have the traction to make the most of the power! I've had it for so long because I honestly can't think what I might want to replace it with, and definitely can't afford anything faster. The only real downside is that it can't tow the Westfield.

@Exitus love it! Looks great, I really liked my 130i but it just felt so much like the 330ci it seemed pointless having both and I could sell the 130 for much more than my 330 was worth at the time.

Have you had any problems with it? I definitely wouldn’t want anything faster that a 135/140 they’re seriously quick! I’ve had points on my licence and have gotten sensible now, I can imagine one of those tempting me to welly it pretty often, I would hope i’d Be able to control myself (and it lol)

on the more tame side of things I’ve been thinking fiesta ST and golf gti around 13/14 plate.... but these m135i - I just know I’m going to own one sometime!!

In the summer before getting the Westfield I thought about getting a civic type r so went and tried both the ep3 and fn2, loved them both in their own ways but the ep3 was too rough and the fn2 just didn’t really have the right price tag to tempt me, it looked a faster car than it actually was which was sort of frustrating - could have used the s2000 engine or similar power in it!  I could see myself in the newer type R Though! It’s a love hate car judging on comments I’ve heard from people
