No such thing really.

Other than the absolute minimum requirement to get it driving then it all comes down to want vs afford :d

For me the basic criteria changed as I started to use the car. The initial build turned out to be pretty much exactly what I wanted and so had all of the “must haves” at that point in time.

But in a matter of three years it’s gone through a lot of changes - see pics

but under the skin it has a new crate engine, BGH gearbox, ECU, atb diff, uprights, widetrack wishbones, AIM dash, custom steering column, arb’s and alloy radiator as well as the cage and V8 bonnet. (V is for vanity  :d

So surely now I have my ideal car - and yet  still on the current “must have” list is 13” wheels and sticky tyres!

Usb charger for my phone/satnav. Other than that just needs to run, and not leak various fluids all over the place!

In my daily drive as long as it starts and stops it's more what it must not have, annoying squeaks and rattles.

Just now, Chris Brading said:

Get your engine choice correct  as I think I am right in thinking my Ztech cannot be easily converted to a Duratec.

Anything can be done. @chriss1455 has swapped a Zetec to a Duratec. But it can be expensive as pretty much everything needs changing. But you can sell your “bolt in package” to offset the cost.

Must have:

Good geo and set up by Westfield knowledgable.

Driver seat time and instruction, before deciding where you start upgrading.

Its a good, but ultimately pointless question! :d

Generally, you'll only get an answer of what was important for the person answering; the thing is, there are so many different reasons for owning a Westfield, and ways of using it, that unless someone happens to use it just the way you will, (and even that changes over time), then their answer may mean nothing to you.

What is great though, is seeing all the variations, so that you can cherry pick from there.

One piece of advice I would give though, is that unless you've owned a very similar style car for a good few years, or are say, buying to compete in it, I would avoid buying one and making it too "specialised", or too focussed on one aspect, too soon. You'd be amazed how many owners find themselves using the car and enjoying it differently to how they'd planned after they've had it a year or two. Go too focussed too soon, and get the focus wrong, and that's when you find yourself no longer using the car much.

A good geo set up and some comfy seats.

Oh and if your inclined to be out at night (I really enjoy it in a westfield) a damn good set of headlights.
