Another new build diary. FW

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

l am a really excited bear.   Thursday 20th Sept 2018 is the big day when I drive up to the factory to collect my FW kit.   This has been a lifelong ambition ever since I saw my first Lotus 7 back in the 70s.  That’s over 50 years ago; and now I am nearly there.   I know I have a long haul in front of me before I can drive the beast but I shall treasure every moment of it.

I am really looking forward to sharing all my highs and lows over the next years.

welcome and enjoy the experience, yes there WILL be frustrating moments but , stop think and ask , there are lots of very helpful folk on here, Its really satisfying and something to look back on with pride

take lots of pictures as you go along, not only are they helpful come iva time but I made a photobook story of my build so I can keep that as a reminder aswell

Good luck with the build and look forward to the updates

:ww: from sunny Somerset. As said a build diary is invaluable, most of all enjoy the experience. It's a wonderful feeling driving round in a car you've built

Welcome from Yorkshire, sure you be Ok and try to enjoy the build.  As others have already said we LOVE pictures, every step of the way.

If you can find your local group and get along to a meeting, you will find a like minded bunch of people that will help you along the way

Hi There .  Enjoy the roller coaster that is the build.  I started back in March and have found it great fun, if not a little challenging at times.   People will offer lots of very useful advice on what tools to get.  Based on my very recent experience, I would recommend 10 cleco temporary rivets and a pair of cleco pliers, total cost about £20 of Amazon or ebay.  They make the riveting a dream as they hold the panel in place firmly while you drill the other holes.  Also recommend several bits of 2x4 wood ( up to a metre long) and make a couple of triangle chocks of wood , they are great for supporting heavy bits like wishbones and differential.

Hi Folks,

Thanks for all your help and encouragement.  My first disappointment this week.  I had a call from Westfield saying that due to changing their chassis builders my chassis is not ready yet.   Bo Hoooooo.  All plans changed; I am now going up to collect the kit on the 9th Oct.   Unhappy face.
