Getting ready for IVA test, put loads of petrol in and gauge hasn't moved. Taken everything off and extracted fuel float. All fine. Any ideas how I can find the fault please.

Also had the car checked at a local garage and noticed speedo hasn't recorded any mileage so possibly another problem :(

After re-reading all the documents for the sender and gauge ... we changed the float round :bangshead:IMG_1622.thumb.JPG.b4f31193c81a63ada695353ab9eba943.JPG

Aah, does the gauge show fuel content now then?

when you drove the car to the garage, did you notice the speedo showing your speed?

Fuel gauge is fine now. In one of my earlier posts about the fuel gauge I stated it was fuel ... changed a few wires round and it went to empty. this time I took the float out, made sure the wires were in the correct settings. The gauge said full ... checked on a couple of others sites and they had the same issue and the simplest way was to turn the float upside down. Worked find ... fuel gauge went up and down when I moved the float. Once happy put it all back together.

Didn't drive the car to the garage .. they collected it for me. Once I put the fuel float  back together and the rear end of the car I took the car out round the estate and .. speedo showing nothing.

Will check with Mark at Westfield today and if I cant fix tonight will try to delay the IVA test

Have you set the pulse figure on the speedo?

Haven't done anything to it yet. I just hoped that it would work out of the box.

You need to ensure the pulse figure is set to the speedo calibration certificate from Westfield. Email Judy, she will email it right away. You will also need this cert for you IVA.

If you have 195/50 tyres set it to 3660

if you have 205/50 tyres set it to 3620

I will PM you my cert to help you along for now.

Worth checking the gap between your pulse sensor and the brake disc bolts isn’t too much.  Easy to test, jack up front, put speedo in ‘AUTOCAL’ mode, spin the wheel and see if the counter registers. (Remembering to set the pulse figure properly afterwards)
