Fastest Westie for sale

Due to very imminent fatherhood, and total lack of playtime at the moment, let alone when sprog arrives, I've reluctantly decided to put my car up for sale.

This is a nearly unique car - I think Chris at Z-Cars built 2 or 3 Westfields before turning to Tigers. I've owned it since Feb 2001 (bought it off Chris), and have put on far fewer miles than I'd like to have done (less than 1000). Total mileage since the twin-engine job (which included new tachos) is about 3500.

This car and the other almost identical (mechanically) one that Chris built has appeared in various magazines (CCC, Kit Car, etc), and it has a fair amount of history (although I only know some of it). It is a 1989 SEi chassis, black, which has seen several engine changes. It is registered as a Westfield on a Q plate. It has been used as a racer, I believe with a Mazda rotary, and during that time had money spent on suspension (Avo fully adjustable) and brakes (AP front, standard Ford disc type rear). All Rose jointed.

Standard ZX-9R 'B' engines, redlining at 12k, with carbs all rolling road tuned. I haven't got a dyno plot myself, but Chris says that they made 150 and 145 (front engine has alternator). The chassis has been extensively modified/strengthened to fit the engines. Custom exhausts (obviously), with Scorpion bike silencers. Transfer box linking outputs to single prop to rear, with 1.1 overdrive and reverse gear in same unit. Twin gear changes for 6 speed sequential on each engine. Can be run on one engine, or with engines in different gears. Not sure what the rear diff is, but I believe it has a LSD (wheels turn same way when hand rotated off the ground).

Two stack tachos. One is standard rpm only with 0-6000 in short space, and up to 15k for the rest. Other has same tacho, but digital display for speed (front wheel speed sensor), as well as fully customisible timing functions, including lap timer with memory if provided with a beacon/button input (socket is there, but never wired up). Also has customisible shift lights. I believe this pair is worth over £500 on their own.

Performance is mind-blowing. 0-100 in 6.8, 0-60 in about 3.2, tops out at about 130 (redline in 6th).

Other bits - red top racing battery, FIA battery cutoff, twin chokes, twin starter buttons, water temp gauge, aeroscreen, twin master brake cylinders with bias bar (at the pedal).

After all that, I'll be honest about the downsides. This car is LOUD. Not only are the engines fairly noisy, but the straight cut gears in the transfer box are fairly loud. Chris has since developed quieter versions of this unit, which could be retrofitted if required. It could also do with larger/quieter silencers, but that's something else I've never got round to doing. It is definitely not a motorway cruiser as it stands :). Although mechanically it is excellent, cosmetically it is relatively tatty - it won't be winning any concours competitions. Dashboard, cockpit floor, transmission tunnel and rear top panel (no boot box) all bare aluminium. Passenger footwell truncated about a foot shorter than usual in order to fit the engines.

Saying all that, I'm going to really, REALLY miss this car once it is gone. Owning one of the fastest accelerating road legal cars on the planet is an experience I will not forget :).

This car is insured for £15k (BTW, fully comp insurance costs me about £300/yr). I'd really like £13k for it - this car has had a lot of money spent on it through its life, including a fair bit by me. However, I'd also like to sell it asap, so will consider offers.

Any questions, either post them as follow ups here, or mail me direct (I usually respond quickest to andrew.bolton@bnpparibas.com, although with very impending sprog-dropping I might not be around at work), or call on 07970 023455. I live just north of Newark, Notts - easy access from A1, A46). It's just had an MOT and is taxed to end November.

Andrew

Edit - just remembered a couple of other bits - drivers side 5 point 3" Willans harness (twist buckle) and quick release steering wheel.

I'll try and add some current pics at some point - I've only got a couple of old ones that I can email out if anybody wants to see it, but I'll take some new ones soon.

Sprog has dropped, car is still for sale, and this'll chuck it up to the top of the list again :).

Total lack of spare time (see sprog dropping info) means I've still not taken any new pics of it ???.

Hopefully a few of you guys saw it at Donington. Still for sale. Ideal car to tidy up a bit over the winter :). My £13k asking is really quite loose...

Obviously this is a bit "specialist" :) as I'm still trying to sell. I refuse to pay money to advertise it, and therefore I'm lowering my asking to a pitiful £11500. I don't want it sitting in my garage all winter. Surely somebody can see that this is a bargain.

Why not enter the Topgear challenge to beat the ZONDA round the track & then re-advertise it?????? you'd get a shd load more after a bit of TV coverage.  And they won't assume you're taking the pizz entering either!

You could even ask them to get "the stig" to drive it. ;)

Still selling. Ho hum. Now put a deposit down on a replacement, so really very keen to sell now. Pretty much any offer entertained, as long as it's 10k or above :). This is for the fastest road legal car you're ever likely to see. I can't see why I'm getting so little interest :(. Apart from probably not advertising it widely enough I suppose. Perhaps I'll try the back of kit-car mag. Or possibly even the for sale page in Evo. But a sale asap would be nice.

Annoying thing is that I had a 10k offer about 2 months ago and turned him down. Unfortunately don't still have the details of the bloke ???.

Contact details as above. Plus daytime phone 020 7595 4030.

Cheerio

Blimey, looks like I can claim the record for most views on a car for sale thread at least :). Can one of you viewers buy it please :D?

Andrew,

I notice in one of the pictures showing the rear of the car there's no rear numberplate light.

Is the car road legal and have you had any quibbles with that?

Put some new wheels on it and I reckon it would look tons better.......only a personal opinion though, of course.... :durr:

Good luck

No problems with rear number plate light at MOTs. I think rules are that if you've got one, it has to work. Like lots of stuff on Q platers.

I could do lots of things to make it look better, but that's why I'm selling at this bargain price - I get no time, and the buyer may as well make the changes to their own taste :).

Phew, I took mine off ready to fit back on again but ran over it   and now I can't find the wire so I was wondering whether I needed one.

Cheers, and I hope you sell it, looks like a fine beast.
