R888R Tyres.

Yes, went to Snetterton with them.   Compared to the old 888's, dry grip is a little better, they do seem a little softer according to the thumbnail test. Wet grip is much better, I would say as good as R1R's which I used as well on the same day.   Wasn't any standing water on the day but I can imagine they will cope a little better due to the single groove all the way round and deep but short grooves.  No tramlining felt at all but this usually only becomes apparent once they wear more as with other well worn tyres. Progressive loss of grip?  No, I would say much the same as the old uns.

Overall very pleased.

many thanks for the feedback, I may get a set whilst they are this cheap!

are your ones the GG compound? I hear they have also managed to get SG compound tyres through the EU testing as well which would make it the best new 1B tyre available i imagine if it is allowed but i can't see any compound specified on the list!?

other option is the Nangkang in soft which is only £208 for 4 and they have very good reviews!

Very good price isnt it, the 13" is a little more than the 15" on that site, but still £349.64 for four is not bad.

Doesn't appear to list a Nankang NS-2R in Soft for 13", but four mediums in 13 is £219.56 from the same site.

Will be buying something between now and next spring.

Anyone experienced these: http://www.jjcraceandrally.com/kit-car/tyres/nankang-ns-2r-semi-slick-track-day-tyre-e-marked

My son has a set on his Z4M Coupé and they seem pretty good and an excellent price.

Yes, been mentioned many times on the forum and a lot of members do have them and like them.   Good price as well.

Paul n,

That's the problem, we have a BEC and do hill climbs so preferably need a wider 205.

Yeah could be an issue if you running lists of power ! Don't know why they don't make a wider 13 ! The R888R is done in all sizes. I think I will go for them seeing they are only £90 extra in my size !

Whats the wear rate like on the R888Rs?

My 595 RSRs are reaching the end of their life after 3.5 years, a good 10000 miles and numerous track days....

Sounds like my yokohama A539's , 2.5 years of autosolos, odd club level auto tests, 3k a year road miles, I have just bought a new pair and put the fronts on the rear.

Not bad for £300
