Thanks Adam may well take you up on that! It looks like a machine, just watched a few laps of bkyton so that will give me something to aim for!

Just secured a Pace Products dry sump kit for this which should aid any clearance issues we face now.

Dan

I think you may find the standard diameter flywheel will give you clearance problems! I had a smaller diameter fly wheel and starter from Ark racing. Cost a fortune!

Have run into some hurdles with this at the moment;

The current Diff I have is a type a, with a 4.4 CWP and suretrac LSD, which uses push in shafts, and the old type Westfield uprights.

I now have wide track rear wishbones and thus the current length driveshafts and old shape uprights won't work with this, so I can just fit the new longer driveshafts yeah....

Not quite, they are made for use with bolt on flanges thus needing a type b Diff and new shape uprights!

So I think, I'll scrap he idea of going wide track, use buy some normal length wishbones and buy 2 lower offset wheels to fill he arch gap....

Que a call to Westfield to see if they would swap my wide track arms for normal ones....they inform me they have stopped making them....brilliant. I know I can source them second hand but having a wishbone snap in the past don't like the idea.

So the only solution is buy new uprights, stub shafts, bolt on flanges, Cv joints and either a new Diff or convert mine to a type b.

So what do we think, do I spend money having my current diff rebuilt and spruced up to take bolt on shafts, or bite the bullet and buy a plated diff and build it up with the 4.4 CWP and for bolt on flanges??

Also got my seats fitted and cage sorted now. Going to start on the dash this afternoon then bring the engine for converting to dry sump, cleaning up and attaching the bell housing and box to see how much space I have.....

I think ok going to put in back together with the suretrac lsd on a budget then see if it's worth spending the extra money or it's better elsewhere.

Managed to get some time on it today so cut out the carbon dash and mounted the dash pro, it was mounted in the centre but I've chosen to put it directly behind the steering wheel and am pleased with the visibility considering it's such a small wheel!

Moving onto the engine/box it's not going to be long till we're offering it up and making some mounts for it to drop in so I thought I best get it cleaned up and test the bell housing.

Started with this all mighty lot...

88FA42F1-923C-4308-B206-658EFFE58406_zps

First job to get it stripped down to make it easy to transport..

Loaded up with the other bits and pieces..

8701098F-C93A-42C0-869C-F9BACB541023_zps

Had a quick look at the new bell housing...

7166730C-899D-42FA-AE39-43046956691D_zps

Then offered it up to the engine, fits nicely

E58D52CB-D5E4-4AA5-A4EC-9AE82E3EC40F_zps

And then popped the gearbox on...

Result it all lines up!!

So I took in apart again and cleaned the engine block, gearbox and dry sump ready for paint in the morning.

So tomorrow it will be paint for the block, gearbox and sump, then I'll fit the dry sump and put it all together ready for test fitting in the car when it's ready.

whoops...... I've ordered some throttle bodies

They're not Jenveys but I'm sure will do the job even if they don't help the power plot;

Positives/cost justification

-Easier and cleaner install (inlet manifold is quite bulky as standard)

-provide better throttle response

-allow a sausage filter out the side of the bonnet

-sound better

They came today, but annoyed and the condition as sold as brand new. And they were chucked in a box, no instructions or bubble wrap. And have lots of marks on them.

Blatantly been fitted before but probably not run. Still cheap I appreciate but feel that should have been said in the description.

52mm butterfly's look big too

Time for another small update...

Test fitted the throttle bodies....

Also managed to get the old sump, oil pump removed and the dry sump fitted. The whole swap gains an extra 7cm clearance which I think will be handy and hopefully save the bonnet from been cut and a 4x4 ride height!

You can get hybrid driveshafts made to mix bolt on and push in items

Danny, have you measured/calculated/estimated how far back the gearleaver will be sitting on the tunnel?

Thanks for the heads up Chris, I managed to find some second hand uprights so all is well.

I haven't thought about that Craig?.... Is it something I shoul have done!

The bell housing is the same width as the previous one and gearbox is the same and driveshaft so it should be give or take exactly the same as it was before?

Looking good indeed, your reasoning on throttle bodies was much the same as mine on my MX5 build rather than chasing numbers. Much neater install over that bulky, heavy inlet.
