Yanto Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 So after a lot of searching in the back of the shed I have found 4 axle stands and a pair of ramps, but the trolley jack is AWOL. I've had a search on internet and see 2 tonne jacks from £15-£40, but what about quality? I don't want the wheels to fall off or seals pop after only a few uses. Can anybody recommend a decent mid priced good quality jack? Cheers Ian Quote
SootySport Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 You need a low one and the aluminium ones are popular for our cars like this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Liftmaster-Low-Profile-Aluminium-LED-Quicklift-Racing-Trolley-Jack-1-5-Ton-GS-CE-/141047485518 They are light and easy to carry around. Quote
Doug Dastardly Posted March 2, 2014 Posted March 2, 2014 I got fed up using a standard jack (wouldn't fit under the chassis) and bought an expensive low entry one. Well worth it. Buy right, buy once. Quote
Yanto Posted March 2, 2014 Author Posted March 2, 2014 Thanks, Low looks the way to go, not sure about LED's though. @alexander72, you've lost me with "flat lift" do you mind explaining what that is? Quote
peterg Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 That's not called a flat lift, it's called a Quick Lift jack and is mostly seen around paddocks being used under single seaters... it will lift a Westfield BUT the maximum lift is only around 9in so the Westfield would only have the tyres a couple of inches off the ground - fine for changing tyres but no use for getting a car up on axle stands An aluminium low entry jack is great for carrying around for track days and paddock use but if you're only ever going to use it at home for getting it up on stands etc then save yourself £50 and get a reasonable quality standard trolley jack (ie Halfords) and just run the car up onto a couple of short planks so it will run under the car easily Quote

They are available without led's as mine is. There are lots of brand names stuck on these jacks butthey are all the same design. Badge engineering is what they call it. Quote
alexander72 Posted March 3, 2014 Posted March 3, 2014 Peter - thanks for the correction - apologies. I use it to get my car off the deck and then i just nudge some rings of beech under it to use as axle stands. once it is on the quick lift its not too heavy to move about like a big wheelbarrow as long as you can get a good grip.
