Kalli Posted February 23, 2014 Posted February 23, 2014 Hey all! Thought enough time has passed (4 days) to officially give a hello! I bought a '93 Westfield last week, with a 2.0l twin-webber setup, and very nicely tuned. After learning the correct breathing techniques for 5 degree temperatures in the face with an aeroscreen, I can honestly say i'm in love. I'm 25 and come from a background of an old 2.5L 924S Porsche, a remapped Smart Roadster, a VX220 Turbo (which I missed sorely, prior to the westie!) and my culmination of it all, a 2010 3.0L BMW Z4. My whole desire for a Westie actually came from a Westfield owner switching from his, to a VX220T; and given the cheaper price for a faster motor, and lets face it; far more thrilling, I thought why not! That, and it doesnt cost £1,300 for a new headlight. Theres a few little things I need to sort out (such as the engine running a little rich at the moment, sight of oil on the floor, and a grinding noise thats directly tied to throttle use) but otherwise, shes an absolute beauty. I waved 12 cyclists ahead of me at a junction the other day....purely because I knew I could get past them without a little bit of concern. The poor drivers behind me though... Hopefully I'll be catching some of you down at the local meets, and would definitely appreciate anyone and everyone giving their views on it; I learnt the real value with the VX, when someone attached a cable-tie to the fuels lines...that were (commonly) slipping out, ready to cause a fire. SootySport Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 Hi Tom, welcome, there are plenty of Redtop owners here from the basic untuned engine to mildly tuned and some extremely tuned motors so answering your questions is should be simple. Your oil leak could be something simple as the drain plug, cam cover or sump gasket leaking or front and rear crank seals weeping. Try and localise the cause of the leak or leaks. Quote
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 Welcome Tom, great to see you enjoying the car! Do get along to your nearest meet if you can, you'll find a whole bunch of like minded enthusiasts and a whole new dimension to ownership! Quote
