Saab to resume making cars in Sweden

Story Here

Why bother?

I purchased a 9-3 some years ago for an employee and it surely ranked as one of the worst cars for the money. They just seemed to make it different and quirky for different and quirky's sake. It had a gutless diesel engine and suffered from numerous software glitches.

They no doubt have a following but not for me I'm afraid.

They were quirky and different until GM took over and then they became Vectras with different clothes.

Quirky, different, and  --  IIRC  --  a safety record better than that of another Swedish car company!

... which is now owned by Ford and is doing well.

Yep Ford dropped most, (if not all?) it's prestige car brands during the depths of the economic woes.

My 9-3 was blumin awful, company car at the time so wasn't able to have anything else.

A Ford Mondeo in a frock but added loads of problems for more money.  :(

I think we all know proper Saab's have been gone for many years.

I've had a 9-3 for 5 years and it hasn't put a wheel wrong so far. It has the most comfortable seats of any car I've owned by a long measure. It's pretty cheap to run, has a reasonable amount of storage space and is quiet at motorway speeds. My only gripe is the OEM tyres which were beyond awful in the snow.

Ormus, no,no a Vetcra in a frock, it was a GM company.

Had my 9-3 sport for 4 years now and I love it not had any major problems with it and 150 bhp is more than enough for me in a tin top.
