WestyNottm Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 Story Here Why bother? I purchased a 9-3 some years ago for an employee and it surely ranked as one of the worst cars for the money. They just seemed to make it different and quirky for different and quirky's sake. It had a gutless diesel engine and suffered from numerous software glitches. They no doubt have a following but not for me I'm afraid. Quote
Norman Verona Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 They were quirky and different until GM took over and then they became Vectras with different clothes. Quote
davidgh Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 Quirky, different, and -- IIRC -- a safety record better than that of another Swedish car company! Quote
Norman Verona Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 ... which is now owned by Ford and is doing well. Quote
XTR2Turbo Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 ... which is now owned by Ford and is doing well. I assume you aren't talking about Volvo .. they are Chinese also Quote
Norman Verona Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 Have Ford sold it? Must keep up a bit more. I'll see if I can get a copy of Automotive Management send on to me Quote
Dave Eastwood (Gadgetman) Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 Yep Ford dropped most, (if not all?) it's prestige car brands during the depths of the economic woes. Quote
OrmusKnight Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 My 9-3 was blumin awful, company car at the time so wasn't able to have anything else. A Ford Mondeo in a frock but added loads of problems for more money. I think we all know proper Saab's have been gone for many years. Quote
bhouse Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 I've had a 9-3 for 5 years and it hasn't put a wheel wrong so far. It has the most comfortable seats of any car I've owned by a long measure. It's pretty cheap to run, has a reasonable amount of storage space and is quiet at motorway speeds. My only gripe is the OEM tyres which were beyond awful in the snow. Quote
Norman Verona Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 Ormus, no,no a Vetcra in a frock, it was a GM company. Quote
Paul Gibney - Lancashire AO Posted December 2, 2013 Posted December 2, 2013 Had my 9-3 sport for 4 years now and I love it not had any major problems with it and 150 bhp is more than enough for me in a tin top. Quote
