Hammy Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 Looking at a new house my son is buying - before we do the snagging, I noticed that the garden gate ( solid timber 6') has a drop immediately on it's other side to a step on the path - should there be a level surface first -? It seems dangerous to immediately drop down - is there something in building regs ?? Thx Quote

Thx There's nothing about it in the building regs they only relate to the building and not any of the landscaping around it (except for the dissabled access to the entrance)If it were controlled by B.regs then there is a requirement for a clear landing at the top and bottom of flights of steps and where there are door swings onto landings, but none of that would apply in this case and even then a single step would be acceptable on the line of a door.
