  1. Just starting the process of getting my 2023 MSA licence. I want to take part in the WSCC Speed series, hill climbs and sprints in a road going 2.0l Zetec Westy and I need the MSA licence number first before I can sign up for the speed series. I assume I apply for the RS Inter Club licence cost £74. I wear Varifocal glasses all the time, so I assume I tick that box and also add a note to say I wear glasses while driving ( plastic lenses suitable for driving). I also assume I don't need to get medical or optician reports for this level of licence. Any other school boy licence application errors gratefully received.

    Unusual roll bar...

Does anyone have any experience with this type of rollbar? It’s been advertised as an MSA rollbar but it is slightly different to the ones I’ve seen previously. The three differnences I can see are: 1. The vertical sides (playskool’s ones are slightly tapered I believe) 2. It has a rear brace above the tank (assume would clash with the LR tank) 3. The rear chassis mounts are fixed rather than a sliding joint or rose joint. Can anyone offer any advice? I’ve been trying to get a playskool one but no joy and this has come up locally. Cheers @Luke Algar maybe this is an old one of yours?
  4. As per title, keen for the single brace version as below. happy to exchange for RAC type which is currently on the car (bottom rose joints - see pic)

  6. Last October the MSA issued the 'Hybrid & Electric Cars: Guidance for organizers of Speed events'. This document outlines the MSA safety requirements at such events and is to be welcomed. Before this, EV sprint racing in the UK was effectively uncontrolled and potentially dangerous. EVs permitted to race are either series production vehicles or Formula E cars. Other EVs including mine, must be individually approved by the MSA. To support this process I must produce a technical reference document detailing the cars high voltage electrical and battery safety systems and also prepare suitable risk assessments. I will submit the car and its documentation to the MSA for approval as soon as I can. Preparing the car and it's documentation is the easy bit - relatively. Each event organizer must also have written approval from the MSA to permit EV racing. The MSA guidance covers the provision of risk assessments, battery fire fighting equipment, separate and marshaled charging and quarantine areas, EV safety training for marshals and electric vehicle safety processes in general. Persuading event organizers to satisfy these requirements just to allow one car to compete will be a challenge. However, I have had expressions of support from across the racing fraternity and with the help and good will of the MSA and the WSCC, I hope at least one event will accept an entry from me this year - in July perhaps.

MSA or RAC Roll Bar - Wide Body

Hi guys, I've only just joined the forum and have a wide body SEW. I've done a couple of track days and am keen to upgrade my standard roll hoop to something a little more substantial. Before I go and spend the best part of £300 for a new one, I was wondering if anyone had an RAC or MSA roll bar / hoop / half-cage (whatever we call them!) kicking around, maybe having been replaced by a full cage or whatever? Thanks Rob
